by Culver Legal, Personal Injury Attorneys
The Incident
On the evening of March 2, California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of gunfire on northbound Interstate 215 near the Ramona Expressway in Perris. A female driver heard a loud noise she initially believed was a flat tire. After pulling over, she discovered what appeared to be a bullet hole in the lower portion of the driver-side door.
CHP officers examined the vehicle and confirmed the presence of a bullet hole. Investigators determined the driver had not been involved in any road rage incident and was likely not the intended target. Authorities believe the shooting may have been random. No injuries were reported.
The Investigation
The case remains under active investigation. CHP is reviewing surveillance footage from the area and interviewing witnesses to determine the origin of the gunfire. Investigators are also examining whether any similar incidents occurred in the area around the same time.
